Muttappam is an easy snack of Malabar origin. Here I have made Kannur style of the recipe. Tasty and easy to prepare with a few ingredients, muttappam make up a good evening snack.


Cooking Time:

White rice-1 cup

Cooked rice-3/4 cup

Water for grinding

All purpose flour-2 tsp

Sugar-2 tsp

Baking soda-1 pinch

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

How to make!

Step 1
Soak the white rice for 3 hours.Wash it and mix with the cooked rice. Grind them well into a highly thick batter adding enough water.Pour it in a bowl and cover with a lid. Leave it for 5 hours in the kitchen corner.
Step 2
Now mix all other ingredients into it thoroughly. Heat the unniyappam chatty adding 3/4 oil in every hole. When the oil is hot, pour the batter in every hole. Turn quickly and cook both side till it turns light brown in colour.Enjoy with a cup of tea.
