Chickpeas are an excellent source of protein and are such a versatile ingredient. Chole Tadka, is a simple recipe of the white chickpeas curry, tasting yummy with a twist in the tadka made here. This dish is a totally flavorful one. Can be best accompaniment with the boiled rice or any rotis.

Ingredients

Chickpea -1 cup
Onion-2 nos.
Tomato-1 nos.(big)
Green chilly-4 nos.
Ginger paste-1 tsp
Garlic paste-1 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tbsp
Cumin powder-1/2 tsp
Pepper powder-1/2 tsp
Oil-1 tsp
Water-2 cups

For tadka:

Butter-2 tbsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Kasuri methi-1 tsp
Cumin powder-1/2 tsp

For garnishing:

Onion -1/2 (finely chopped)
Coriander leaves-1/2 cup

How to Cook!

Step 1

Soak the chickpeas for 6 hours or more. In a pressure cooker add chickpeas,onion , tomato,green chilly,ginger paste, garlic paste,turmeric powder,coriander powder,cumin powder,pepper powder,oil and water. Cook it for 25 minutes in a low flame. When cooked, open it and give it a good stir.

Step 2

Heat a pan, add butter. When it starts melting, add cumin powder , kasuri methi and garam masala powder and saute  for sometime.

Step 3

Now, pour the tadka over the chickpea masala. Mix it well. When you are ready to serve, garnish the curry with the chopped onion and coriander leaves.Enjoy.
